Shanghai, China — July 02, 2026 — The Shanghai International Metal Recycling Expo, co-located with four established non-ferrous metal events, is set to draw over 35,000 professional visitors, including more than 4,000 international delegates from over 100 countries. This combined exhibition will span 60,000 square meters when it opens on July 8, 2026.

Strategic Focus on Low-Carbon Materials

The Shanghai International Metal Recycling Expo will launch amidst China's "Double Carbon" economic strategy, which emphasizes sustainable development and reduced emissions. This inaugural event, a standalone launch by RX China, will host 100 exhibitors, attract 3,000 visitors, and occupy 10,000 square meters. It addresses the escalating demand for low-carbon materials, driven by the rapid expansion of new energy sectors such as batteries, photovoltaics, energy storage, and electric vehicles. The expo will foster industrial chain collaboration and deepen integration between recycled metals and downstream sectors. Significantly, it will run concurrently with Aluminium China, Magnesium China, Copper China, and Lightweight Asia. These five co-located shows are projected to feature over 650 international exhibitors.

Advancements in Recycling and Non-Ferrous Applications

The event will feature two core exhibit sectors. "Metal Recycling & Processing Technologies" will present equipment and solutions for the entire metal recycling value chain, including sorting, shredding, separation, and remelting technologies. AI-driven sorting and digital traceability solutions, alongside environmental protection and waste management companies, will also be displayed to improve recovery efficiency and material value. The "Non-Ferrous Metals & Downstream Applications" sector will focus on the production and application of recycled non-ferrous metals like aluminium, copper, magnesium, lead, and zinc. This segment will highlight applications in new energy vehicles, energy storage, 3C electronics, low-altitude aviation, and humanoid robotics, including lightweight structural parts and aerospace-grade alloys. For professional buyers, the expo offers a venue to discover solutions for reducing costs and emissions through green manufacturing, supporting the building of sustainable supply chains.

Policy, Knowledge, and Professional Engagement

A central feature of the expo is a structured knowledge program, with the centerpiece being the 2026 International Forum on Non-Ferrous Metal Recycling and Sustainable Development. This forum will address critical industry challenges such as policy harmonization, transboundary trade frameworks, and lifecycle carbon accounting. It will also cover innovations in sorting, impurity removal, and alloy property retention. The event is designed for technical decision-makers and trade professionals only, with no admission for individuals under 18 or retirees. The audience profile includes OEMs and manufacturers, procurement and sourcing heads, and recycling and sustainability managers, among others from automotive, energy storage, and aerospace industries. The concurrent forums and policy briefings will offer insights into market trends, regulatory developments, and ESG standards, providing strategic guidance for the industry's transition towards quality-focused growth. RX China, with over 40 years of expertise in Greater China, organizes the event, leveraging its experience across nine industry clusters, including Smart Manufacturing and Medical Pharmaceuticals, providing a foundation for this new metal recycling expo.
